Zoey back in the hospital at three weeks
THey had to build a cast for her arm to keep the IV's in... poor thing
Last Wednesday night, March 30th, Zoey ended up in the hospital at three and a half weeks old. During the day we noticed that Zoey was barely moving, VERY LETHARGIC! At night I gave her a bath and then she laid by Daniel for two hours and not moving, and that is SO NOT HER. At 10:00 her heat had sky rocketed and when we took her temp it was at 101.7. We called the on call nurse at her Dr's office and she told us to get her right to the ER. So I packed her up, borrowed my neighbors car because the durango had taken a dump, and headed to the ER. As soon as we got there they had been expecting us, thanks to the nurse calling ahead for me, and they got us right in. The doctor pulled me aside right away and told me that when a babies temp gets over 101.4 there is most likely a bacterial infection and it was very serious. I lost it... CRIED! They immediately did a spinal tap, which I had to leave the room for (they told me as a mother I should not be in there), then they took blood from her head, both hands, and both feet. By the time they were on the feet they were milking her like a cow. She just laid there as they did it. They then put a cathider in, took an x-ray and took her fever again and it had spiked to a 104.7. They gave her meds for the first time and it did go down to a 102.
We were admitted into the hospital after all this around 6 a.m. NO SLEEP for her or I at this point and so needless to say we both crashed but not for long, they had to keep coming in and checking on her. Her fever was going up and down and up and down but never went lower than 101.7. For the next couple of days Daniel and I had to switch on and off at the hospital to be with her. She would give us hope of a fever breaking and then it would spike again. Her IV's kept collapsing so they had to keep moving them around, her arm swelled up to the size of my wrists and we couldn't even hold her due to our body temps raising her body temp. She was a mess, we were a mess! On Thursday night she received a blessing from Daniel, our bishop and another man from our church.
FINALLY Friday night she started sweating, shaking and shivering... the fever was BREAKING! At 2 a.m. on Saturday I got to hold her again! Needless to say I was overcome with joy! They released us on Saturday morning and so far she is doing good! We have a followed up appointment this Friday and fingers crossed they will give us two thumbs up.
They believe that what happened is someone with a cold sore kissed her and the bacteria got into her mouth and her body was not ready for that bacteria. So when it entered her body she could not fight it and it made her temp rise. THANK GOODNESS we went to the hospital when we did and they were right on giving her antibiotics from the beginning. I am so grateful for modern medicine, blessings, prayers and love. I know they all played a part in bringing her back around and healing her.
After her first night, she was NOT feeling good AT ALL
Hooked up to be monitered
After her Spinal Tap
Ready to come home... she was so tired, her poor eyes tell you she had been through an ordeal. So happy she was finally feeling better though!

ZOEY ILSE KING
So PRECIOUS!
LOVE LOVE LOVE HER LIPS
Zoey was born on March 6, 2011 at 2:58 p.m.! It was an AMAZING birth; from start to finish it only lasted an HOUR!!! I was exactly 38 weeks along and I just felt my body could not handle it anymore... I was planning on making her come by walking and all other forms to get her out. Daniel finally convinced me to have a relaxing day and just let her come naturally. So I finally did, AND SHE CAME! As I was lounging in bed my water broke, at first I had the question in my mind if I had wet myself once again, as is normal in all pregnancies (haha), but as more and more came out I realized THIS WAS IT! No contractions started so I told Daniel to take a shower, rounded up the boys and sent them to my neighbors; Gaea's, she was wonderful helping out, and we left about 20 minutes later. Well 10 minutes into the car ride the contractions came and WOW they were HORRIBLE. By the time we got to the hospital I told Daniel I could feel her head. I ran into the Emergency room and screamed that my water had broke, my contractions were less than two min. apart and I could feel her head. Well they must have thought I was over reacting because they took a good 10 min. to get me up to labor and delivery. By the time I got up there I was screaming!!! Daniel had to undress me and get me into a gown, they put me up on the bed and 13 min. later Zoey was born! I told Daniel that God showed me mercy because there was no way I could have handled that much intense pain any longer it came so fast and so furious. I had never had a natural labor before; I tried with Benson, my first, but after 19 hours I finally got an epidural with him and never tried it natural again! So this was not at all what I had planned. As soon as they got me on the table I was begging for an epidural and the nurses response was, "Oh honey, it is time to push!" Oh my goodness! The midwife had to yell over me to stop screaming and they goodness she did, it helped me whip back to reality and get Zoey out. She was TINY, 6.5 pounds and 19.6 inches, dark as dark can be... looks so much like Edward I can't believe it!
It was a needed delivery! The last week of pregnancy I had a false labor that put us into the hospital for three hours with contractions two to three min's apart, her heart rate was doing massive drops when they monitored her throughout the next week pf pregnancy that sent me to the hospital again to have tests run on her heart and on the amniotic fluid because the count was too high. I was not able to sleep or focus, so when my water broke I just cried out of relief! It was a crazy pregnancy, but my body and mind have spoken and this WILL FOR SURE be our last, and it could not have ended better than a sweet, perfect girl! She is EVERYTHING I dreamed her to be.
The first week has been good and bad. I am a bit worried she may have colic, but I will know for sure when I go for her two week appointment. Due to my amniotic fluid problem she came out with an eye infection that I am sure bothers her eyes, but thankfully, due to her meds, is going away. Britton is OVER JOYED with her! He can't stop kissing her, it is SOOO cute and is something I am so grateful for. Benson bonded so much with Edward when he came home that I think Britton felt left out, but he is the one this time doing all the bonding and it is the SWEETEST thing ever. Edward is have a VERY hard time with her, he is doing all the classic signs of being jealous, but in the last few days he has given her soft sweet kisses, hugs and touches, so I am hoping we are turning over a new leaf. Benson is true to his nature and is the protector. Any time we give her a bath, make her do tummy time, or have to do something where she may cry more than normal he tells us it's enough and tries to take over to calm her down. OH HOW I LOVE MY BOYS!
This recovery has been THE BEST out of all my births. I guess I deserve that though after a natural labor, haha! My milk never came in, but I am more happy about it than not. The thought of going through that process for a fourth time gives me the shivers. Plus with the formula I think she will be just fine!
I can't explain the overwhelming joy and love I have for my husband and children right now. We are the Minni Brady Bunch, but I would not have it any other way. Thank you Zoey for completing our family and for all the joy and love that has already come with you being here on earth with us. I LOVE YOU LITTLE LADY!

UP AND UP
I had my 36 weeks appointment on Monday and GREAT NEWS! My iron has gone up by three points and Zoey looks as healthy as ever. They will still have a blood transfusion on "stand by" for the birth, but it just makes me feel so good to hear everything is improving and that my little girl is doing good. Her Ambiotic fluid was a little high, but they said at this point it is nothing to worry about.
I am 3 cm and 70% efaced... Wish that meant I would go into labor now, but we all know our bodies are crazy and I could stay this way for four weeks!
Today is my baby shower and I am so excited to spend a couple of hours with a few good friends and celebrate my last child and my first girl. Having three boys has been a BLAST, but I must admit I am so excited to end with a girl. FOUR KIDS.... WOW!

A Little Scary
I am not one to announce EVERYTHING in my life.... well at least not these days, but because this is my blog and in a way my journal I would like to remember this pregnancy and my fears that I faced with it (as well as the good of course)!
On February 7th I went in for my 34 week check up. Nothing too crazy has gone on so far other than my body letting me know this is the last one, but no crazy symptoms to write home about. Well when I went in on the 7Th I got a shock!!! The doctor let me know that I was Enimic and had reached a point where they are really concerned not only for my safety but for the safety of my baby girl too (which my the way we are calling her Zoey now.... long story). She let me know that because of where my count is that she ordered a "stand-by" blood transfusion for when I give birth. Now because we have modern technology I know I should not be too worried, but still it has me worried... especially when right after she told me this she said at the 36 week check up we will do an Anatomy scan and most likely have a "stand-by" transfusion for Zoey too. WOW! As soon as I told Daniel he said he would like to be the one to give the blood so once my appointment happens on this upcoming Monday the doctor and I will talk and see if that is possible. I also have two sister in laws (sweet hearts) that have told me that they will come and give blood as well. Along with my best friend Jessi B! I am so grateful for this kind of love in my life.
I am hoping that this is a worse case scenario and that I will actually be fine and so will Zoey. I am hoping at the 36 week appointment on Monday that the Anatomy scan will show Zoey healthy as can be. I am hoping that all the Iron I am taking will do it's best to raise my iron and put me at least back in the 20's!
I am so anxious for this upcoming appointment. I am so counting on the doctor telling me that Zoey is healthy that I honestly don't know what I am going to do if I hear her say she isn't. I am so grateful for modern science and medicine and for technology that really can tell these things ahead of time and can help fix them.
Something else we will find out on Monday is if they will want to schedule my delivery so they can have everything in place or if they feel I should go until I go into labor on my own. If they do schedule it I am positive it will be at the beginning of my 38 week mark since I went at 38 weeks with my last two babies, but we'll see.
In a weird way I just feel like a failure with this pregnancy, like I did something wrong and now I may have hurt my child. I know my thoughts may be bogus, but it is just how I feel at the moment. I am praying for good news on Monday and I am praying for a good delivery with no transfusion.

Daddy and Little Man
Ava and Britton, let's get ready to get this done!
We got to go to DISNEY WORLD for our 2011 Family Vacation! AND IT WAS A BLAST! We drove 10 hours to get there and started off with Taylor throwing up everywhere in the backseat within 15 min of the drive... oh how fun it is to start things off that way! No worries, Britton threw up on the way back about an hour into the drive so we got to have the smell of throw up all the way there and all the way back!
Walking around at 31 weeks prego wore me out FOR SURE (we went January 18th - 22nd) and by the fourth day I just couldn't handle it anymore... so we ended up doing three whole days of Disney and on the fourth, we rested! We went to the Magic Kingdom the first day and I am so glad we did that first. We were full of energy and the kids were ready to rock and roll. We stayed 8 hours and went on all but three rides for the whole park. When I say we made the most of that day, WE DID! We saw parades, characters, ate like crazy, and rode, rode, rode the rides. Well Daniel, Benson, Britton, Taylor and Ava rode the rides... little man and I mostly walked and talked. I did get to go on a couple of rides though (and so did Edward) like: The Haunted Manshon and Pirates of the Caribbean! I think all the kids agreed that Pirates of the Caribbean was their FAVORITE... so we ended up going on it at least three times. They also loved It's a Small World and Benson and Britton thought that Haunted Mansion was BRILLIANT!
The second day we did Hollywood Studios and talk about AWESOME! The Indiana Jones show was GRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTT!!!! All the kids, including Little Man, just thought it was the coolest thing ever! And I have to agree, if you go you HAVE to check it out. It felt so real right in front of us, I don't think the kids will ever forget that and I am pretty sure it was the highlight of the whole trip.
It rained on us most of the third day while we were at the Epcot Center, but now worries... we still had the times of our lives! We went and watched Captain Eo, I fell asleep during it and Daniel was astonished I could even blink during such an AWESOME Micheal Jackson movie (give me a break), but the kids loved it and I think the movie made them all fans of Michael Jackson because I have heard them singing the songs ever since. We also saw A TON of characters that day and got TONS AND TONS of autographs. We got to create our own video game and email it to our account so the kids can play it at home, super fun!
Wow the list just goes on and on of all the fun, but hopefully the pictures speak for themselves. I am so glad we all could go together, it will be a long time before we have Taylor and Ava with us again so it was SO nice to have this special family memory! I hope all the kids treasure the memories!
