A TRYING WEEKEND...

I always hear about how you need to pray for patience when it comes to your children, why do we have to pray for so much patience? Why not pray for sanity? I think if we prayed for more sanity, patience may come easier to those who are sane.

I do think this weekend took the cake for Benson and Britton pushing every possible button I have in my body. WHY?!??!?! Well let's just start off with Friday night when we got home for the day..........

Benson tells me he needs to go to the bathroom. So when Benson has to go to the bathroom and do his "business" I let him shut and lock the door, because if not Britton will throw things at him while he is sitting there (and that is just another story). So he is in the bathroom FOREVER, and I finally knock on the door to see if he is OK, and he tells me, "DON'T COME IN!" Well of course that is a dead give away that he is doing something he is not suppose to. I get a nail and open the door and sure enough, there is Benson with all of my makeup drawing a HUGE PIG (actually a really good one for a three year old), all over my mirror. Yes funny, I admit... but that was just the first thing. Other things that happened this weekend include: Slip and slide in the bathroom with all of their new hair soap and body wash, Britton getting his finger stuck up Benson's nose (that was ALMOST a 911 call), Benson trying to climb out his window while we were driving, Britton throwing tantrums, Benson thinking his favorite word is "NO", and the grand finale.... drum roll please..... Egg time in the kitchen! Yes Eggs everywhere. I think the boys are sleeping so I take a shower and when I turn the water off all I hear is Britton screaming his head off! I run to find Benson had just cracked an egg over his head! Eggs on the walls, floors, windows! I am laughing as I am writing this, but I was praying to stay SANE while it happened.

The thing is, they are good boys. So why do they feel the need to push me? It is amazing how far they have come with in the last two years (thanks a bunch to Nanny 911, good show for all parents) but it is almost as if they know if they are going to do something bad they might as well go all out because they already know they are in trouble. It is funny how your parents tell you they hope you have children that are exactly like you were as a child, I am so sorry mom!!!!!!!!!!! I must have been a handful!

NO SOCCER FOR BENSON

I DON'T GET IT!!!! I swear this boy doing the DEAD MAN'S FLOAT in this picture should be able to play Soccer, hmmmm.... maybe he should be a swimmer instead! All Benson does when he is home is play soccer... that is all he ever wants to do. SO of course I enroll him in soccer this season and WHAT DOES HE DO?!?!?! Throw a fit! I took him to two practices where he sat down and would not do anything and if he did do anything it was BOLTING off the soccer field. I thought we would at least make it to the first game. NOT THE CASE! Apparently he cried at school in the corner screaming at his teacher on Friday telling her that he just did not want to go to his game. Much like the night before when he cried himself to sleep because I told him he had a soccer game this weekend. OK END OF THAT! Of course I want him to play, but I don't want him to hate the sport before he starts. OH MAYBE NEXT YEAR. The funny thing is when we were at the practices Britton was the one out there kicking the ball and making the goals, I should ask them if he can take Benson's place on the team. I don't care if he is small, Britton has Skills.

WONDERFUL! WONDERFUL! WONDERFUL!

How much better can life get? Dan and I just had the GREAT opportunity to see each other again two weeks after the "FIRST" official meeting.

All I can say is Labor Day weekend 2007 was the best Labor Day I can remember! It is amazing how fast you can attach yourself to someone when they are around you. With him gone it feels a little strange to not have him with me all day.

First and foremost he was absolutely incredible with the boys. Playing with them, loving them and just building a fun relationship with them. Second he fit right into the family. I do believe that every member of my family has commented on how much they liked him and thought that he treated the boys and I so well. Third, but not last.... I am finding myself falling harder than before for him. I know seeing him with the boys and around the family was just confirmation that he is meant to be in my life at this moment, even if it is for a short while, he is meant for me right now and I am grateful for that.

It was such a busy weekend and he did not miss a beat! We had a BLAST at SunSplash on Saturday where he helped me take the boys on every ride for 5 hours. I think that was the most fun the boys have had in months! We went out to dinner on Saturday night with his sister who lives north of Phoenix, and her husband. It was nice to meet at least one person in his family and nice for him to see her. Sunday was church, where the boys behaved themselves (why they can't do this every Sunday I will never understand). We had family dinner that night where he met everyone for the first time and then after that we had a Friends game night where he got to meet some of my closet friends and got to see me in GAME MODE ACTION (and I, or should I say the girls vs the guys, still lost - dang it). Then Monday was labor day where we hung out with the family and swam, ate, Karaoke and laughed. He, unfortunately, had to fly out that night at 11 p.m. and I have missed him every second since. BUT WHAT A FUN, UP BEAT, BUSY weekend! I would not trade it for the world. It was one of those weekends you never wanted to end.... To bad all good things must come to an end.

I am just SO excited about him and our relationship. I am excited that he is becoming such a dear friend to me. I am excited that he bonded with the boys so well and that he had no problem fitting in with my family. I am excited he had the chance to meet some of my friends and get to see the people I am around and love to be around. I am excited that I am lucky enough to have this INCREDIBLE chance!
